In theory, you can add your name to someone elses credit cards and benefit by way of your credit score. If you get added to a card with a decent credit limit, good re-payment history, your credit score may increase.

Before streaming into the public around 2006 the likely hood of this actually happening was nearly 100%. Since being uncovered around the same time, it no longer helps your credit and may actually hurt it.
